Inspired by the great success of the 2015 STP (Seattle to Portland ~206 Miles Bike Ride), Kerala Club with Care&Share organized a team for this year's STP as well. Led by Kerala Club Biking Coordinator & Team Captain Rupesh Kelambath as well as Ashley Elenjikal and Mahesh Kamath, the team started on July 16th and completed the ride to great glory on 17th all the while supporting a great humane cause. STP 2016 Team: Roopesh Kelambath (C), Ashley Elenjickal, Mahesh Kamath, Adarsh Madhusoodan, Vidhya Srinivasan, Velmurugan Veerappan, Vinod Kumar Tony Mathew, Sudeep PK, Ajith Kotharamath, Sijo Jose, Vipin Venugopal. The Motivation: Adarsh Charitable Trust, based in Ernakulum, Kerala, India focuses on the rehabilitation of kids with cerebral palsy, autism, and Down syndrome. They serve close to 350 children through their centers in two locations – Kureekkad and Vyttila. Another 110 kids receive services at home through their community service units. On average, the cost involved for one child is around INR 2000 ($30) per month. For the Trust to run smoothly, close to INR 6,50,000 ($10,000) should come through donations each month. We collected over $6500 dollars for this cause thanks to the great support. For more details and to make a contribution, visit: http://www.careandshare.com/stp2016.html
Thanks for the great support for Kerala Club/Care & Share team [Rooesh Kelambath [Lead], Mahesh Kamath, Ashley Elenjickal, Anjana Vinod & Sudeep PK) for Seattle to Portland Bike Ride in 2015. Kerala Sports Club Seattle partnered with Care & Share to raise over $5,000 to support our project to rehabilitate children with visual, auditory, and multiple physical disabilities. For children when are afflicted with this level of disabilities, there is rarely any institution that can empower them to meet their most basic day-to-day needs. National Association of Blind, Kerala Branch, is the only organization in Kerala providing services to such children. The project was started in 2008 with 26 kids in the Trivandrum district, but since then has grown fivefold, currently serving around 125 kids. Details at http://www.careandshare.com/stp2015.html
